One of the raffle prizes offered is, a convention registration to the GMCMI Spring 2011 Convention in Patterson, Louisiana - April 10-16, 2011. GMCMI would like to thank all the vendors that have donated items to be raffled at the convention. Plan to get your tickets at the convention. If a person buys a ticket at the convention and has to leave, he/she may leave his/her ticket(s) with someone that will be present for the drawing. The ticket has to be purchased at the convention and the ticket, not the purchaser, has to be present to win. Kim Weeks 7/27/2010 GMCnet The tech sessions are all pulled together and will be posted here soon, but as noted, there are bound to be changes. We will spend a whole day plus part of the next on fuel injection this time starting on the very basics by Walt Haller, then on to the system most of us with fuel injection have similar to Holley's by Bob Drewes. Next, George Beckman and Randy Van Winkle will cover a subject new to most of us, the new EBL system, followed by a panel with questions and answers. Eastern States is having one of their annual rallies in conjunction with GMCMI similar to the way Western States did at Santa Rosa and Pueblo. They will be presenting several tech seminars on Saturday the 25th open to anyone who is there. They have also added several other things to the schedule for all to enjoy (Saturday breakfast, Chili cookoff). The Midwest Classics are also holding one of their annual meetings at this convention, but have no other special activities planned other than probably a carry in. Carol did the lady's page, and I did the registration form, but neither are recognizable after Kim spiffed them up. She really did a nice job adding formatting and graphics, and a little pizzazz. The registration form is on the website, and does have an outline of seminars, but no titles are shown there. Go take a look...it's like no other registration form you have seen come from this organization!! DuQuoin is a farming community in the heart of the Midwest, and is a very nice, small, rural southern Illinois town. But not small enough to escape the mandatory Wal-Mart Supercenter. The fairgrounds are very spacious, rich in history, and well kept, with lots of landscaping and paved roads. Kim has pulled together an interesting schedule, so it's going to be a good time, and we hope ya'll can come. GPS Coordinates 7/27/2010 GMCnet As usual, you don't have to be a member of GMCMI to attend. Members will get the application with their July newsletter. For those of you that are not members, you can visit the GMCMI web site to download the application. http://www.gmcmi.com/ It is on the first page. Just click on it and download it or print it out. Although you don't have to be a member, or even own a GMC to attend, we have found in the past that most non-members that have attended usually sign up for membership at the Convention or soon after. Only $30 a year to become a member and in addition to the four quarterly newsletters you get the GMCMI Parts Interchange booklet each year that is well worth the cost of membership alone! Come and join us and get to meet a lot of the people whose postings you have been reading on the GMC net. Many vendors will be there from all across the country so you can talk to them and see their wares on display. There will be a lot of good technical seminars and there will also be a lot of things for your wives to do. I am sure that you will have a GREAT time. Emery |
