President’s Letter

Emery Stora

Hello Fellow GMCMI Members,

I hope you all have a very good New Year and that you continue having a lot of enjoyment from your GMC Motorhome.

We have just completed our 30th year as a club. As a member you can help the club to last many more years and to provide other members and new owners with the fun and the excitement that you have enjoyed. We need to ponder on what strengths our club has in order to thrive, and also on what weaknesses we have and what we can do to make them better. We elected new officers at our Membership Meeting last September. You should know who your Area Vice President is and contact that person and let them know your ideas and your needs. They are your voice at the Board of Director meetings. Tell them what you want done and how you want them to vote on issues important to you. That is how we can all make a better organization.

Our Convention Manager, Kimberlea Weeks, has put together some great conventions for 2013. Our March 22 convention will be at Dothan, AL at the National Peanut Festival Fairgrounds. We might even find some peanut butter ice cream there! On September 20 we will be at Branson, MO. This place has it all. Besides the many, many shows there are scores of other things to do and see: a Tiger sanctuary, a scenic railway, and even Zip lines, and many others. This should be the premier convention of the last several years.

I urge you to attend our conventions. Join with us to participate in the informative seminars, visit the vendors, greet old friends, make new ones and join in the social events that create the camaraderie that we GMCMI members have enjoyed over the years!

I realize that many of us are getting older and don’t like to drive as far. Many are on fixed incomes and the price of gasoline has gotten so very high. But think about using your GMC. It isn’t giving you much pleasure parked in you drive or behind your barn. If it needs some work to get it on the road, one of the many benefits of membership in our club is the helpfulness of our members. Check your membership roster and find others in your area. If you need help you can usually find a fellow member who enjoys assisting others with their motorhome mechanical problems. If you can’t find someone, call me or email me and I will try to find someone to assist.

For our new members, welcome to the club. I hope to meet many of you during the coming year. Come to the conventions and you will learn a lot about your motorhome and make so many new friends who have a mutual interest. I have made so many, many GMC friends over the years that I can travel to any state and know people there. It is great fun to call up people when traveling through their area and stop by and visit.

We are only here for one lifetime so lets make the most of it.

Have a great 2013.

I am proud to be your new President.
