The timeis decreasing before all will have an opportunity to join us at the “Great GMC Motorhome Summer Get-Together” to be held in Branson, Missouri on Saturday, June 25 to Friday, July 1. This is a first-time for us to meet during the summer and is especially aimed at our potential younger members who maybe able to include it in their summer vacation plans. Regardless of your age, if you don’t currently own a GMC, you fit the mold of the folks who we hope will look seriously at purchasing a coach. If you are newto thinking about a GMC, check out GMC Motorhome: Remembering a Classic by Todd Moning (go to www.fmca.com/join-family-motor-coach-association/stories/162-gmc- motorhome-remembering-a-classic.html)There are three things that might come to your mind: (1) Should I invest in a machine that is more than 40 years old? (2) How will I maintain (and improve) it? (3) Would I be better off purchasing one of the new, small Class B machines? If you’re not sure of anyof these, come to the Summer Get-Together in Branson! You will be able to see what alarge number of owners have done with their machines and ask direct questions specifically focusing on the first two of these questions. As to maintenance, you’ll be able to investigate if you can do much of the maintenance (and functional upgrades) yourselfand if you’re not so inclined, where you can go for experienced assistance. You will be amazed at the brand new parts availability, too. As to question number three, you might like to check out the great new smaller motorhomes such as theWinnebago Travato and the Pleasure-Way Plateau XL (MSRP $85,476 and $131,170 respectively. The GMC has a muchlarger interior than these units and if you check the GMCMI.com website, you can see the prices for currently available units – sorry nonew ones with MSRP window stickers.Remember, you don’t have to have a GMC to join us in Branson. The KOA has “camping cabins” and there are more motels than you can count – lots of competition so pricesare generally good. Lots to see and do, for kids and grown-ups alike! We have arranged special pricing for a couple of the Branson shows (purchase via registration form on page 18), but check the many shows available at www.branson.com/shows.So come join us! And you experienced owners, please come too. Summer event information and registration form is available in this issue of GMC Vintage RVing (page 15) and online gmcmi.com.You won’t be able to “see the USA in your Chevrolet” but you can in a GMC motorhome, some of which will be towing that Chevrolet.GMCMI Chapter StatusMembership stands at 976.We have 33 new members since our last publication.“You won’t be ableto ‘see the USA in your Chevrolet’ but you can in a GMC Motorhome, some which will be towing that Chevrolet.”– DAVID BLACKSHEAR2015-2016 GMCMI Board of DirectorsDavid BlackshearPresidentLarry McLaughlinVP NortheastJanet FreyVP EasternKerry PinkertonVP SoutheastJohn SharpeVP South CentralDale RoppVP Great LakesLarry WeidnerVP MidwestMarilyn PeltzerVP Rocky MountainJim KanomataVP WesternCarol BaxterVP NorthwestKim WeeksVP AdministrationLucy WeidnerSecretaryFred HudspethTreasurerJohn SmyrskiNational DirectorKeith WeeksAlt.
