The number of attendees, and the number of first timers were both quite high. Lots of fun activities, some technical, some not, were enjoyed by all of the participants. This one is in the record books, and if you missed it, you missed a good time.Turning our attention to the future, I, for one, am looking forward to our Spring Convention in Shawnee, Oklahoma, March 24 thru 30. The Heart of Oklahoma Expo Center is a great facility and Shawnee (about 40 miles southeast of Oklahoma City) is a great location.We always have a few SOBs (Some Other Brand) motorhomes at our conventions, as some of our members, for whatever reason, arrive in them instead of in their GMCs. However,this time, we are doing something very different. We are specifically inviting owners of other “Vintage RV’s” (pre 1980) to participate with us. If you haven’t done so, go to the club website, GMCMI.com, click on Latest News, then Spring 2017 Convention and scan the list of Vintage RVs compiled there. Some are “slightly weird,” some are very attractive and all are interesting in their uniqueness. Some of the brands had very few originally manufactured, and fewer still remaining, while others are more populous. All have some interestingcharacteristics and features. At the moment, we have no idea what response we will have to our invitation, but I’m excited to see who“This one is in the record books, and if you missed it, you missed a good time.”– STAN EDWARDSshows up, and to have an opportunity to see some of these models I have only seen in pictures.This issue will also introduce you to the new Board of Directors of GMCMI, and myself, your new President. Read the biosto learn a little bit about these folks. If you have not met your regional Vice President, look them up at the next Conventionand introduce yourself. As always, if you have any concerns or issues with the club, feel free to contact your Regional VicePresident, myself, or any of the officers. We will address your concerns to the best of our abilities.This is the time of year when our dues come due. Pages 8 and 9 of this issue explain the reasoning behind an increase in the dues from $30 per year to $40, and tell you about the various ways available to you to pay them. Dues are due by December 31.
