Soon, fast asleepIn their earthly beds,The snow lay a coverlet Over their heads.———If you have any information regarding a member that would benefit from a card (illness, hospitalization, sympathy, etc) please contact me either, cell, text, email or snail mail.Cell: 620-802-1200Email: [email protected]: 4510 Nickerson Blvd Hutchinson, KS 67502Diane DuggerGMCMI Sunshine Lady14 GMC VINTAGE RVING MAGAZINE | GGMCMH Literature PhotographerFound in Elkhart:Royale and Birchaven PhotographerGMC Vintage RVing Editor Janet Frey | Milford Square, Pennsylvania | 1976 Palm BeachAt the GMCMI Convention in Elkhart, Indiana, Bill Bryant and I were introduced to Joseph Hilliard,a local resident with a fascinating story. Joe was a key part of the history of the GMC Motorhome. His job was to create advertising photos of the Royale and Birchaven models of the GMC.As an employee of the Coachmenorganization, he took many photosof these iconic motorhomes for keyparts of the promotional literature. He brought one of the brochures to show his work to us. On this particular piece, the cover was a stunning photo of a Royale in a country setting, perfectly reflected in a lake and the nearby trees beginning to show their fall colors. He explained that he typically went to local areas, such as this private lake at a farm in nearby Middlebury, to create these beautiful pictures. The photos of the interior were taken in a studio at Coachmen Industries and the excellent detail shows his skill with the expert lighting and viewpoints. When asked how he came to work for Coachmen, Joe said that it was his first job out of college. As he continued his career, the GMC became part of his past. But, about seven or eight years ago, he saw a GMC traveling down the road. He began to wonder what became of the GMC Motorhomes, and started searching for information on the internet. As they say, one thing led to another, and he found that not only was the GMC alive and well, there was a Convention in town! He stopped by saying he was currently looking for that special GMC to own.We wish him well in his current career as an architectural photographer, traveling the country in a Coachmen motorhome, and really appreciate that he took the time to visit. Perhaps we will see him at a future GMCMI Convention, in his own GMC!1978 Royale & Birchaven BrochureFor these and additional literature on theGMC Motorhome go to: gmcmi.com/literatureJoseph Hilliard and Bill Bryant.MCMI.COM
