Well, as I write this, it’s a “Spooky” time of year. Each day gets noticeably shorter. For those of us in colder climes, it is time to winterize the GMC again. Only this year I had to replace the fresh water pump as well since the twenty-one-year-old previous pump was cycling on three or four clicks every fifteen seconds or so. The good news is that it was the pump, not a leak in the plumbing. It is the time of year to look back on our accomplishments. For GMCMI, that includes two great Conventions, the spring Vintage Motorhome Celebration in Shawnee, Oklahoma and the Fall 35th Anniversary Conventionin Elkhart, Indiana. Both Conventions were very well attended. And we had a FMCA Presidential presence at both Conventions. More details on our Fall 35th Anniversary Convention can be found on page 24. This issue of GMC Vintage RVing is the ninth issue, and begins the third year of the magazine. GMCMI will be ending 2017 with more members than in 2016, which were more members than in 2015. Nice trend. It is also the time of year to be getting our dues paid. Notice that I said “getting” them paid, not “thinking about paying them”. FMCA requires chapters to provide an up-to-date roster of members by the end of the year. This means that it would really help Kim accomplish this if everybody paid their dues by early December. You might also think about paying two or three year’s dues at a time. This will save you from having to worry about dues again fora couple of years. Renewal information and form available on page 16. Remember to also stay current on your FMCA dues – you can look“It is also time of year to be getting our dues paid.”– STAN EDWARDS, GMCMI PRESIDENTup your dues status on the FMCA website. It is the time of year to look forward to a New Year – 2018. And it is a time to start planning your GMC travels and adventures for this New Year. I hope you will all seriously consider attending the Spring Convention at Lazy Days RV Park in Tucson, Arizona, April 6 through April 12. With theparticipation of the west coast GMC Chapters, this promises to be one for the record books, as well as an opportunity to renewfriendships with some GMC folks we do not see very often. Tucson has a wealth of interesting attractions, so you might consideran extra day or two in the area. This would also be an opportunity to extend your trip and take in some sights from the west coast of the United States. Finally, this is the time of year that Eileen and I look forward to the many holiday activities in the coming months, particularly the chance to spend time with our family in Maine at Christmas.Eileen and I would like to wish all of you the best in this coming holiday season and a most happy New Year, full of GMC activities.
