We had great participation from the Western GMC Clubs. We got to see some friends we rarely see, meet many new friends, and see many coaches we have not seen before. There were lots of good tech and non-tech sessions, entertaining and fun activities, and chances to visit. The park was beautiful, the weather was great, and the opportunity to self pick grapefruit, oranges, and lemons was an added benefit. At the welcome meeting, I did not introduce the officers of GMCMI, instead,I introduced everybody in the room. I asked people to stand, and remain standing, if I named a category that fit them, and “please hold applause until the end”.Then I named groups like the set-up crew, club officers, vendors, presenters, rally planners, newsletter editors, etc., about a dozen categories. The last was “If you own a GMC, would like to own a GMC or used to own a GMC.” By this time, everybody in the room was standing. “Look around at the people standing with you. Let me emphasize, People – Standing – With – You. This is the GMC Community.” Then I asked everybody to applaud for all the other people standing. Then everybody sat and we got down to business. It really does take all of us, andthe various contributions that we all make, to create the GMC Community – and what a great community it is!Two important pieces of chapter business were taken care of at the Spring Convention. First, an Audit Committee of JimHadcock, Paul Doane, and Hal StClair reviewed the books of the VP Administration and the Treasurer, and all was found to be in order. Second, a Nominating Committee slate of Sharon Hudspeth, Jim Kanomata, Ken Henderson,Joanna Tanner, and David Blackshear was presented to the membership at the final business meeting. There wereno additional nominations from the floor, and the slate was approved as presented. Sharon Hudspeth was chosen by theNominating Committee to be the chair. The Nominating Committee is charged with presenting a slate of officers for next year at the Fall Convention in Amana, Iowa. Both of these pieces of business, the Financial Audit and the Nominating Committee are critical to the proper operation of our Club, and we sincerely appreciate allof these folks agreeing to give of their personal time to support GMCMI. I would personally like to thank them.Eileen and I hope you all have a happy and safe summer full of GMC travels.“This is the GMC Community.”– STAN EDWARDS, GMCMI PRESIDENT2 GMC VINTAGE RVING MAGAZINE | GMCMI.COMIn This Mailing...Included in the Spring 2018 mailing is the Spring issue of GMC Vintage RVing, the 2018 GMCMI Membership Roster, 2018 GMCMH Part Interchange and 2018 GMCMI Article Index. These are just a few of the benefits of membership.
