Paducah, Kentucky | GMC Great Lakers and GMC Eastern StatesThe GMC Great Lakers and GMC Eastern States held a joint rally in Paducah, Kentucky. Twenty-five GMC Motorhomes caught the attention of the Paducah Sun newspaper, and the article’s headline, “Today’s eclipse brings longtime motorhome enthusiasts to town” certainly helped to spotlight our favorite motorhomes. The accompanying photo was a beauty, showing a line of seven GMC Motorhomes. The rally was held at Fern Lake Campground, and had been planned to coincide with the eclipse. Several of theattendees were interviewed for the article and were able to provide extensive information regarding the vintage motorhomes. Tom Whitton did a great job promoting the rally with the local television station, the Paducah Sun newspaper, visitor’s bureau, police departmen, and campground. On Saturday during their rally, the GMCers welcomed the local television station reporter and cameraman. Several GMCs were filmed, and there were interviews with presidents of both clubs and various club members. The nightly news broadcast used the segment to lead their show.Monday, the newspaper article appeared, and then it was time for the main event – the solar eclipse. Viewing glasses were available for the participants. Totality lasted for two minutes twenty-one seconds.Check out the article and newscast at: wpsdlocal6.com/2017/08/19/eclipse- draws-dozens-of-vintage-motor-home- owners-to-paducah/Photos courtesy of John PryzbylekMonday, August 21, 2017Paducah Sun newspaperDillard, Georgia...photos taken illustrating the speed at which it became dark and then light again.Photos courtesy ofEric and Joanna Tanner2:32:52 PM2:34:08 PM2:35:46 PM28 GMC VINTAGE RVING MAGAZINE | GMCMI.COM
