“The Black List” (The GMC Assist List)This is a GMC list of owners/supporters whoare making themselves available for whatever assistance they can offer to other GMC’ers while on the road traveling. They offer help to others on a 24-hour basis, rain or shine. Sorry no help for those other brands, just GMC Motorhomes. You many use the list even if you are not on it. We would like to have you on it though.History of the ListBY ROGER BLACKThe list was a suggestion by GMCnetter Tom Winslow on December5, 1998, regarding an assistance list for Triumph owners. He also holdsthe distinction of beingthe first member of the list. As a non GMC owner(am now), I felt keeping the list was a sort of payback for the information and friendshipsI got from the GMCnet As for the name, the list was and is The GMC Motorhome Assist List. The “Black List” came from some of the member’s twisted minds and it stuck. It started by being posted as an email to the GMCnet until it gottoo large to handle by email. The main thing I have done regarding the list is summed up by one on the list, that I have been “cajoling and even shaming folks to join”.There would be no list without those who signed up. It is your list, no cost, sign up, and use it.Just a friendly group waiting for your call of help.Roger transferred responsibility for maintaining the list to Billy Massey. A “Pinch Hit Drivers” list has been added to assist those in needof assistance in working with the FMCAssist Insurance benefits.Don’t leave home without it! Believe me!For submissions/updates and a copy of the “Black List” go to bdub.net/Black_List/GMC Motorhome RegistryThe GMC Motorhome Registry began after Dave and Jan Greenberg sold their first GMC in 1985, a Palm Beach, which they bought in late 1975 in New York State. Often wondering where it was over the years, and beginning their search for GMC #2, Dave founded the GMC Motorhome Registry. His goal was to develop and maintain a historical record of the coaches, while tracking changes in ownership for the 12,921 GMCs built between 1973 and 1978.Dave and Jan used theirGMC for tail-gate parties andcamping, including a oneyear trip around the 48 statesin 1977 with two pre-teens.In 1993 they bought theirsecond GMC, a 1977 PalmBeach with 480,000 mileson it, and they managed toput on an additional 160,000miles. The second engine, a455cid, had over 325k mileson it, with one rebuild (Joe Mondello) and two valve jobs.Dave began his quest of finding GMCs by lifting hoods andjotting down serial (TZE) numbers. He looked through classifieds, online auctions, club rosters, and FMCA. He also recruited helpfrom world-wide GMC owners and continually gathered information. In the process, he learned of the commercial and military applications for the coaches, the celebrity owners, about up-fitters, equipment changes, and defining the paint codes. Dave also found a community of very loyal owners. The purpose through maintaining this registry is to locate, record coach modifications, and track the movements of coaches from place to place, and owner to owner. There is no charge or fee for this service. The registry information is held confidential and is not bartered, rented, leased, traded or sold.Since it began in 1993, 8,076 GMCs have been found and we will always continue to chase GMC Motorhomes to find all 12,921!In May of 2011, Dave transferred responsibility for maintaining the GMC Registry to John Shotwell. John will continue to build on the legacy that Dave has developed over the course of the Registry’s history.Today, the registry consist of 8,860 GMCs, we ask you to assist this site in its effort to fulfill the goal of finding ALL of those GMC Motorhomes and Transmodes! Our best source of information is word of mouth,so keep talking about us!gmcmhregistry.comSPRING 2018 GMC MOTORHOMES INTERNATIONAL 7
