SOLD! | 1978 Center Dry Bath Royale – 26′
Peterborough, NH | $25,000 | listed 8/16/20204
Andrew Osterman | 202-422-5994 |

For Sales: 1978 Center Dry Bath Royale
113,000 Miles
VIN: TZE368V101430

We are selling our beloved “Walter” because, while our kids keep growing, it refuses to do the same.

We’ve owned the coach since 2021. The center, dry bath Royale is one of the most sought-after and most functional floorplans of the GMC era. This particular coach spent the majority of its life in the south only to relocate to New England in recent years. This is evident from the nearly immaculate frame and undercarriage.

The 403 and transmission are original but run like a top. The outside has a fair amount of scuffing, but the interior looks like it just rolled off the show-room floor with the exceptions of new seats and a removed microwave (which we still have), and a brand-new air conditioner/heat-pump.

While we have taken it on trips as far west as Ohio without any issues, the majority of his use has been in short, 100 mile drives to New England campgrounds during the summer. It has spent winters covered and, to my knowledge, has never seen snow.

It is almost oddly unmolested and, while I’ve been tempted by stories of EFI and one-ton fronts, there simply hasn’t been much of a reason to change anything.

The standard maintenance routine included a seasonal oil change in the spring (so approximately every 1,000 miles), greasing the fitting referenced in the manuals, and replacing the rear bearings.

Since purchasing it in 2021, I have done the following:

  • New 15k quiet AC/Heat-Pump (2022)
  • New rear stainless steel brake lines (2022)
  • New rear brake shoes/hardware (2022)
  • New LiPo House battery (2023)

The previous owner, an active GMC RV community member, did the following:

New front bearings (April 2019)

  • New lower ball joints (April 2019)
  • Replaced with rebuilt front knuckles and drilled for grease fittings for easy greasing of both inner and outer bearings (April 2019)
  • New 80mm front calipers (April 2019)
  • New rotors (April 2019)
  • New front pads (April 2019)
  • Replaced air bags with “newer” used OEM (April 2019)
  • New freshwater pump (April 2019)
  • Rebuilt CV axles (May 2019)
  • Recorded radiator with more tubes and fins (May 2019)
  • New Dave Lenzi copper exhaust gaskets (May 2019)
  • Replaced fuel lines (May 2019)
  • Replaced level control switches with new from Applied GMC (May 2019)
  • Cleaned and repaired leaks in freshwater tank (May 2019)
  • New Generator fuel pump (May 2019)
  • Fixed leaks in both grey and black water tanks and replumbed for driver’s side exit (May 2019)
  • 7 new Michelin tires (May 2019)
  • All roof vents replaced (May 2019)
  • New Ramco mirrors (June 2019)
  • New custom below bumper tow hitch (August 2019)
  • All rear drums bearings regreased, and shoes replaced (Oct 2019)
  • Rear bogie grease fitting replaced with units that allow both inner and outer bushing to get grease.  I do not remember who invented these, but they work fantastic (Oct 2019)
  • Both Front windshields replaced with new glass at GMCMI Rally Mansfield, OH (Oct 2019)
  • Replace kitchen sink faucet (May 2020)
  • Replaced shower faucet (May 2020)
  • All new day/night shades (June 2020)
  • New Generator bridge rectifier (August 2020)
  • Replaced both level controllers with new units (Sept 2020)
  • Rebuilt carburetor by Patterson (Oct 2020)
  • All new belts (Oct 2020)
  • New hot water tank (Oct 2020)
  • Removed and replaced floor deck below drivers and passengers flooring (October 2020)
  • Replaced flooring with wood/vinyl snap lock (March 2021)
  • Had both original captain chairs reupholstered (March 2021)
  • Replaced carpeting throughout (April 2021)
  • New carburetor and in-line fuel filters (May 2021)
  • Removed rear AC and replaced with Maxxair vent fan (May 2021)
  • New driver and passenger seat belts (May 2021)
  • Ragusa sidestep (May 2021)
  • New mechanical fuel pump (June 2021)
  • Both Mufflers replaced (July 2021)

I had no concerns with taking it camping last month in the White Mountains. I would have no concerns driving this coach cross-country tomorrow that I wouldn’t also have with driving any other GMC of a similar age. But there are three things which the new owner will need to address at some point:

1) It’s time for new tires.

2) The shower drain is slow and should be delicately snaked.

3) New boot steering column boot. While there are no steering issues now, they will set in eventually. I have the part which replaces the whole stack with modern bearings, but installing a new version will damage the original splines. The new owner will need to decide if they want to use the new one as an upgrade (that will be hard to reverse) or restore the original.

4) On very hot days, it idles higher than it should (~900 RPMs) when in park. I believe this is due to a small vacuum leak. Since it only presents on days where I don’t want to be crawling around looking for vacuum leaks, I have just been waiting for the problem to progress so it will be easier to find. In a year, it has not progressed which has been both a relief and a frustration. At some point, it will need to be addressed.

We are located about 90 minutes northwest of Boston and would be happy to coordinate a time to see it in person.

New Hampshire does not issue titles for vehicles this old, so it will have to be done with a bill-of-sale alone

As always, if it’s listed, it’s available.

SOLD! | 1977 GMC Kingsley – 26′
Vallejo, CA | $22,999 | listed 8/10/20204
Greg McDowell | 415-676-7700 |

Selling my 1977 Kingsley GMC 26′ Motorhome. Mostly untouched original with 47K original miles. Original 455 engine. I bought it 7 years ago from original owner Drag racing legend Ron Pelligrini. Internet search his name for more info as he had a great impact on drag racing. He purchased it so his wife could have luxury at the drag races. Motorhome spent most of its life in Beverly Hills. It is an absolutely great example of 1970’s design and getting hard to find ones still intact from modifications. It is all 99% untouched original except the head liner and maintenance items. Even the curtains including the shower curtain are original. Not a 100-point show car perfect but presents very well. Hard to believe the upholstery is original and still so nice. To be more perfect the drip rails should be painted, and the headliner replaced eventually as the replacement is failing. Interior pictures don’t show the upholstery as good as in person as it looks like they may have some fading which they don’t. Never been smoked in and still has a vintage no smoking decal. Comes with new cover. Has always been indoors under my ownership. I have been a collector of mostly 1970’s vehicles, but life is telling me to downsize and am selling other vehicles also. It always starts up, but I barley have driven it, and it is time to sell to someone who can take it places. Was great on the highway.

SOLD! | 1973 GMC – 26′
KY | $65,000 | updated 7/31/20204
Tom Whitton |

This coach has been my hobby and pastime for 23-years but at age 84, the time has come to relinquish the keys. I have constantly pampered and improved this remarkable machine since buying it from the Elam Fayard’s widow in the spring of 2001. Painted at Topeka Graphics and protected in a weather-tight garage, you can still see your reflection in the finish. The undercarriage is almost as clean as the top with no rust ever.

The interior is fully custom, the original interior was discarded. Every single item has been updated, including a new dash, wood and leather steering wheel, oak paneled walls, oak hardwood floors, oak cabinets, front and rear television cabinets, hidden-pull-out shower, hidden toilet and sink and rear twin beds. Upholstery, twin mattresses and bed spreads were custom made.

Running gear, including the engine, transmission, suspension, brakes and bearings have been replaced or rebuilt. The freshly rebuilt 455-engine has less than 500-miles on it.

I’ll try to remember the main upgrades:

  • BMW silver metallic and Ford black paint
  • Custom grill
  • LED tail lights
  • New windshields; front and rear side windows
  • Rebuilt engine
  • Ducted K&N engine air intake
  • Exhaust headers with new mufflers
  • Rebuilt transmission
  • Aluminum radiator
  • Daytona-Ferrera rear Air Bags
  • 3:55 Final drive
  • Hydro-Boost brakes
  • Electronic throttle-body fuel injection
  • Electronic speed control
  • Lenzi remanufactured knuckle assembly with grease fittings
  • Lenzi ride height adjusters
  • JR Slaten dash air valves and stainless-steel oil cooler lines
  • Boss Bluetooth, DVD/MP3/CD AM/FM receiver with pop-up screen and rear-view camera
  • Lowered steering column
  • Variable ratio steering gear
  • 4KW Onan generator
  • Up to date wiring and fuse panels for both house and automotive sides
  • Kitchen pantry and 4-burner gas cooktop with oven
  • Built-in microwave and 3-way refrigerator
  • Macerator with original system backup
  • Fantastic fan
  • Through the bumper hitch
  • Wind wings
  • Alcoa 16” wheels (7)
  • Electric windshield wipers

There’s more. Come see for yourself.

I have somewhere around $150,000 invested, consisting of 23-years of purchases and labor that I realize I won’t be able to fully recover. I’ve enjoyed every day of ownership; therefore, I am setting the price at $65,000. This is about a third or less the amount you might pay for a less captivating, late model motorhome. Sixty-five thousand dollars buys you a lot of safety, beauty and roadworthiness. Talk to long time GMC owners. Give me a call to set up a time for a visit here in Paducah, KY. I look forward to hearing from you.

SOLD! | 1976 Eleganza II – 26′
Minot (Foxholm), ND | $14,500 USD | listed 9/4/20204
Steven Janibagian |

Its finally time to let go. We didnt use it this summer for the first time and I’ve always said thats when you know. 1976 Eleganza II. SOLID mechanicals with some low priority (to me) issues still available to tinker with and make your own. Engine and APU both started within 20 seconds and ran strong and smooth when I finally took coach out of covered winter storage this month.

  • Complete upper and lower engine rebuild 8K miles ago.
  • Less than 500 miles on a brand new 3.7 final drive Trans.
  • Brakes and fuel lines rebuilt 2 years ago when the new Trans installed.
  • Has variable (driver) ignition adjust for that mountain pass to seaside journey to prevent altitude related pwr loss.
  • Some extras include Ext oil cooler, turn signal mirrors, chrome wheels, rebuilt awning, new alternator, complete middle and rear modular interior rebuild to include rear upper bunk over original double bed space.
  • TV w/powered antenna.
  • Aux propane radient heater installed.
  • Replacement leather drvr & pax seats.
  • There’s much more with all mech systems updated to some extent over the years, with records of it all.

To be honest, its not perfect but then its 46 years young and still going strong. And while the coach certainly passes the 10 ft beauty test it could use a paint job to look more modern. But that doesnt impact functionality which has always been my priority.
Cons:

  1. Front blower motor quit on my travels last year and havent tried troubleshooting since I took it out of covered quonset winter storage this month.
  2. Tried turning on coach furnace yesterday with no result. Again, havent tried troubleshooting. Worked last time I actually used it, as we all say.
  3. And last, a small crack happened in the upper rear window while in winter storage. Its a little difficult to see and I missed it when I originally posted the ad on FB. Coach was on blocks and perhaps it wasn’t completely level over the cold ND winter?

Thats it to the best of my knowledge.
CLEAN AZ title in my possession. Coach available for viewing near Minot (Foxholm) ND.
Will put this gem back in winter hibernation in October and would like her to have a new family before then.
Ready (truly) to drive away today.

SOLD! |1975 Glenbrook – 26′
IN | $15,000 or best offer | listed 10-20-2022 | price lowered 2-14-24
Selling agent: Scott Delaney,
Seller: Craig Shumaker

71,000 miles. Rebuilt

This motorhome was purchase July 2021 from the Delaney family in Lafayette, IN.  That is where the unit still resides. See “GMC Motorhomes that Sold” for ifs posting.

https://www.gmcmi.com/motorhomes-that-sold/

As many GMCMI members know, my plan was to electrify this GMC Motorhome. It was to be my grand retirement project. I’ve always loved the GMC Motorhome and I’m a devotee to EVs.

However, I’ve decided to abandon this project for numerous reasons ranging from changing personal life goals (I’m over 70-years old) to supply logistics in an EV industry under the strain of technical and financial issues. The last one is battery development travels at light speed while some EV makers aren’t likely to survive.

Therefore, I’ve decided sell this motorhome because — as I was told last year at the Wisconsin Meetup — it is too nice to chop up for electrification. Alas, my design efforts revealed that I’d have to gut much of the deluxe interior appointments to keep the GVW under 6 tons.

In the last year, these upgrades have been done:

  • Back up camera
  • Side radar
  • New air bag pump
  • Three-point seat belts
  • New steering linkage
  • LED interior lights
  • Forward proximity alert camera
  • New AC capacitors

Scott Delaney installed the above items. Kudos for his extremely competent mechanical skills. Like father. Like son. Scott’s father Carl a degreed Mechanical Engineer did the upgrades listed at recently sold tab. This GMC was Scott’s dad’s two-decade retirement project.

SOLD! | 1973 – 23′ GMC Motorhome
CO | $17,000 | listed 8-4-2023 | 10-27-23

1973 23’. Rear bedroom, side wet bath. 455 runs well but the oil pan leaks. Has one leaky lifter that fills after engine is at temperature. Rear bed and side wet bath is the best layout IMHO. The green is a great color, I believe it to be a re-spray but I don’t have documentation for that. Looks really nice from 10+ feet away. Closer and you can begin to see scratches, hazing, etc. Striping on the sides, front and back: I would say good for  age of the vehicle. The 23’ is just that much easier to drive, maneuver and park. Perfect for two plus an animal.

  • I purchased in Monrovia, California in 2008.
  • The previous owner provided documentation of an engine rebuild, which I still have.
  • Since then, of course, additional engine/mechanical work done. I found one of the heads had a crack and bought a rebuilt one + had the other rebuilt.
  • Replaced the cast iron intake manifold with an aluminum one, with no air flow under the carburetor; no issues with vapor lock since then.
  • Transmission rebuild in 2014.
  • Newer distributor, electronic ignition.
  • New, larger air tank and Viair compressor.
  • Power Level II valves.
  • Replaced cooling fan, power steering pump, alternator, starter.
  • Rebuilt carb, plus have a second carburetor. Changed air intake to the carburetor.
  • Tires have lots of tread but are old (always kept covers on when vehicle was not stored inside – minimal cracks on sidewalls.
  • The generator was removed. I do still have the pieces the generator mounted to, my plan was to make a storage box that would slide in and out.
  • The A/C is gone and in its place is a 12 volt swamp cooler. This is fine for dry Western States but not suitable elsewhere.
  • Replaced front wheel bearings 1 year ago.
  • Airbags in good shape.
  • Large solar panel mounted to roof rail, charge controller and 100 amp hour lithium ion battery.
  • Original hot water heater removed, on demand hot water heater installed.
  • Removed furnace, have catalytic heater instead – more efficient use of propane, no noise, doesn’t drain battery.
  • Battery isolator.
  • Aluminum engine hatch, this cut the noise down greatly.
  • Has captain’s chairs from a later model, which have been reupholstered.
  • Dinette seats and backs new a few years ago.
  • Some cracks in front grille.
  • Driver side front window has small crack near bottom from 2017 hailstorm; crack has not changed at all.
  • Roof has dimples from same storm.
  • ZipDee awning new in 2016 or so. One awning arm cracked near bottom 2 years ago and I epoxied it – has held to this point.
  • Smaller older awning above dinette window on driver’s side.
  • Cabin has cork flooring.
  • The captain’s area needs flooring.
  • Dash gauge displaying oil pressure stopped working, replaced.
  • Gas gauge is unreliable. I think the tanks have some sediment, I don’t drive past half tank before refueling.
  • Although the original fabrics could not be saved, my wife refitted the interior with fabrics appropriate to the era – it’s updated but we have tried to make it look like something from 1973, including painting the front panel of the refrigerator green matching the outside color.
  • Most interior lights now LED.
  • Fantastic fan in the head instead of the tiny round fan – moves air better, let’s more light in.
  • Wardrobe modified to have shelves as well as rod for hanging clothes plus shoe cubbies.
  • LED running lights.
  • 7 original hubcaps purchased as new old stock about 5 years ago.
  • Ramco mirrors(blinkers not connected). One of the mirrors is missing a nickel size half moon at the edge of the glass from the hailstorm.
  • Ragusa luggage arms mounted to ladder, Ragusa vent for the stove, Ragusa step.
  • Steering knuckle needs new boot.
  • Muffler has some rust holes.
  • Lots of random extra parts including: headers; rubber mat for under the pedals; belts, hoses, jack adapter, rear brake lines, proportioning valve, leg for table between captains chairs (that was hard to find), wiring harness for lights, rubber side molding
  • Original manuals + reprints, press photo, coloring book, jack adapter, etc. etc.
  • Really fun to drive and comfortable to camp in. Many more photos available if you ask.

I wanted to post that everything, and I mean EVERYTHING has been done to this coach to make it mechanically sound and comfortable to enjoy. The only thing that is needed is a paint job. There are NO leaks and everything works as designed, that was extremely important to us and hopefully to those who understand what it takes to make it possible. SOLD! | 1977 Edgemonte
CA – Rancho Palos Verdes | $28,000 OBO | listed 5-6-2022 | sold 7-9-2022

I bought this motorhome in 2018 with the intent to build it to be roadworthy to traverse the country for about 2 years while living in it. That only ended up being about 5 months of travel but she(the RV, “Ellie”) totally handled it and has only been upgraded further since. Life has changed a lot tho since then and now she just collects dust, more or less. Just want to get her in the hands of somebody who will get use out her and not let her deteriorate.

She has the 455 and passes smog every time. The roof A/C works but the dash A/c does not, although it is upgraded to R-134a, I just never charged it or messed with it. Roof A/C blows icy and keeps it pretty cool.

This model came with the bigger bathroom where it has a standalone shower, instead of showering over toilet and sink.

The previous owner (who passed away and left this to his wife) lived in Canada and had 2 of these: This one, which was his first, and most roadworthy, and another that he had dumped 50k into before passing. His wife kept the cool one with all the money into it and sold this one to me. She wasn’t really aware of all the upgrades he did to this one and neither was I. When I got home and did my research, I realized he already done most of the common mods I was curious about doing myself: Quadrabag suspension, front wheel spacers, Alcoa rims, charge wizard, upgraded larger-sized aluminum fresh water tank, larger-sized hot water tank, Dometic awning, Ragusa slide-out house-battery tray, roof pod, etc.

  • I spent about year building out this RV to be bulletproof and livable. Things I did:
  • Paid to have entire braking system rebuilt to OE spec (New drums and pads, rotors, bearings, brake lines, and master cylinder) (just last summer).
  • New Tires on all 6 tires plus spare (last summer)
  • All windows resealed
  • NO ROOF LEAKS! Completely sealed roof and used stainless hardware to bolt back down connecting strip between walls and ceiling on exterior.
  • sanded and repainted all cabinets (inside and out), the front and rear interior roof caps (above the bed and drivers cabin)
  • Added mini-blinds to all windows
  • Made handmade window valences (to hold blinds against walls) from cherry-wood
  • Installed new subfloor, vinyl plank flooring, and carpet
  • Converted rear twin beds to queen-size bed with storage underneath. The bed opens like a treasure chest and storage underneath is pretty big. Secret compartment that is even bigger too. The airbag-suspension equipment and water tanks all have their own trap doors under the bed for access.
  • Created a cabinet with vintage rebuilt receiver and turntable (turntable slides out and fits snug. The cabinet was built around this particular turntable and receiver so they come with the Rv)
  • Custom mounted vintage Bose speakers in bedroom connected to vintage hi-fi receiver. The receiver also has a bluetooth controller so you can bluetooth your phone to it to play music through the hi-fi setup.
  • Custom cabinet at rear of bed installed. I used it as record storage on one side and a clothes hamper on the other.
  • Installed smoke and co2 detectors
  • Installed dual 6v golf cart batteries in series for house batteries. 1 year old. Lasts for weeks.
  • New engine battery (3 months old)
  • Installed granite counter top and large, shallow stainless sink.
  • Sanded entire bathroom and repainted with Brite white epoxy paint (waterproof). I kept the original sink orange because I loved it and carried that orange throughout the rest of the rig.
  • Recovered most Formica panels (walls, dinette table, custom cabinet below fridge) with updated colors (grey and orange mostly).
  • Built cherry wood table for drivers cabin
  • Recovered the love seat and used a roto-molded Engel cooler as the base of the seat (holds ice longer than Yeti -11 days)
  • Installed quick-draw gun safe
  • Installed original windshield curtains
  • Installed larger fridge from a different model.
  • Removed stripe on body (was an “Eleganza” stripe that the previous owner put on but was not the correct model. The rear part is still on though.
  • Original Onan 6000W generator get regular service and works great.

She starts up every time and never lets me down! Such a great time, I just don’t have the time anymore. Hopefully you do though!

SOLD! | 1974 – 26′ Canyon Lands
MD | $10,800 $9,800 | Listed 3-18-2022 | SOLD 4-12-2022

Our parents purchased this unit as second owners in 1980 with 43,383 original miles on it.  I have their log book of trips taken from coast-to-coast, north to south. The current mileage is 75,683 and I have many receipts on upgrades and repairs done.  Features include 455 engine, Front Wheel Drive, Air Ride System, Air Suspension Pressure Gauge, Trailer/Car Towing package, Roof Mounted Storage Pod, Full Bath & Shower and more.  Great project for anyone who has knowledge or is willing to get involved with members of the GMC MH community, most who are passionate about keeping these unique units on the road.

The unit has been stored in a very large weather free implement building with concrete floors on the Maryland eastern shore for a number of years, not too far from Dover, DE.  I have a variety of new and used parts that will be included as part of this package when sold.  The exterior body is in very good shape. The interior is also in good shape but is in desperate need of a refresh with new appliances, rugs, curtains, etc.   My mother authorized some mechanical work to be done in the fall of 2019, however it was never completed as her health deteriorated and it is not currently running.  Due to the time off the road and in storage, the best option for distant moving is on a load all transport.

Also includes 2022 GMC Motorhomes International Membership.

Some New and Used Parts

*1 – Left side Header *1 – New brake lines
*1 – Sending unit (probably fuel) *1 – Full tune up kit

It’s time to let Ella, our 77 GMC go.  We purchased the coach in March, 2018 from a person that spent 4 years and several thousand dollars refurbishing it.  We drove it from New Orleans to our home in Florida where we had it painted, upholstered the seats, new tires etc.

The RV rides and drives excellent.  We’ve taken several trips including, Los Angles CA, up the Pacific Coast Hwy to San Fransico, across the northern states back to Florida. We are members of GMCMI and the Sunshine Statesmen GMC club and have attended several rallies with the Club.

Anyone looking for a nice, reliable coach, check it out.  all the receipts of parts by the previous owner and myself are in a file box in the coach.

71,000 miles. Rebuilt

This Motorhome was purchased in May 2002.  My husband was a Mechanical Engineer with interests in lots of things including automotive mechanics.  There was water damage from leaks, the headliner was sagging and the coach was in very bad shape. Since it hadn’t been driven for some time, the salesman drove it out to our house,  it died and wouldn’t restart so the salesman left it in our driveway.  It was meant to be ours.  It was parked in our pole barn while Carl and I worked on restoring it to where we could travel in it with all the “perks” he wanted.  It has been stored in our pole barn until recently.

These are some of the things he did:

  • Insulation:  As much insulation was added as possible; walls & cabinets were removed; lots of “Great Stuff” foam was added for insulation which was slow & took a long time.  Additional insulation was added in areas he could get to.
  • Cabinets: original & repaired as needed.
  • Headliner: deteriorated & sagging headliner was replaced, all custom fitted, & easy to wipe clean.
  • Flooring:  Old carpet was removed and new carpet installed on lower side walls, under/around seating areas and floor except for wood laminate in the kitchen area.
  • Windows: Large windows behind the cab were removed, new rubber gaskets installed to eliminate leaks and replaced.
  • Venetian blinds: new ones installed with custom fitted window slots.
  • Curtains: Split Insulated curtains cover front and inside of windshield (to use while parked for sunlight and insulation}; Split curtains closes off cab from living area when parked.
  • Cab: New upholstered driver and passenger seats that swivel with folding armrests were installed.  The sun damaged instrument panel cover was replaced with custom vinyl covering. New, larger outside rear view mirrors installed. Radio/cassette player was replaced. A custom designed removable table with 2 cupholders fits between cab seats.
  • Living Area:  Two Original Captain Chairs  with good upholstery are behind the driver’s seat.  They swivel via a lever with a table fitting between them that can be folded up & out of the way if needed.   I keep a fitted sheet over them to keep from getting them soiled since they are original.  Seat belts have been installed.
  • The Dinette bench (seats 4) was re-upholstered with storage space under them. The seats can be laid down to make a twin size bed.  Seat belts were added.  The Dinette table was replaced with a custom made new one.
  • Kitchen: It is the original oven with a 3 burner stove top replacement. A small microwave is securely mounted into a cabinet.  The countertop has been replaced using the original 2 hole kitchen sink with a custom made cutting board over the large hole sink area.  The Refrigerator with freezer on top is original and works on generator or electricity.  Special latches keep it securely closed; especially needed while driving.
  • A Dry Goods storage cabinet was fitted into the area originally designed for vacuum parts and has a pushin locking latch.
  • Bathroom: All in one toilet, mirror (with storage)  above sink and counter space (with small storage below counter), shower with shower curtains.  Toggle switch turns on night light.
  • Emptying toilet/waste: A specific hose is securely mounted under the back of the coach for ease in emptying waste and storage.   A Macerator was added to break up waste as it is being emptied.
  • Rear bed area: has bench seats that can be folded down to make into a regular size bed.  Some items can be stored under the bed.  There is storage on one side and cabinets above.  Access to the water heater is on one side. ( I have the original table with post that can be used as a table area if wanted. It  would need to be installed)
  • Lighting: Interior lights are original and work,
  • Removable hand made bars fit on upper cabinets for hanging towels etc.
  • An Electrically operated step  extends out to assist in getting into the coach and retracts with switch. At times it would not work correctly and my son is working on fixing it.
  • Carl made a Screen door engineered to fit the curvature of the coach that is fitted with a door opening area.  It can be removed when not wanted.  Extra hooks were added to the side of the coach to firmly hold the door open when parked if wanted.
  • Door locks/unlocks with a key and a fob. A Keyed entry system was added.
  • A Handle to assist in getting into the coach is firmly installed.
  • Tires are basically new.  New Alcoa Aluminum hub caps with GMC logo painted red.
  • Has Three NEW Batteries.
  • Gas tanks: It has 2- 25 gallon gas tanks. Originals were removed and new ones were ceramic coated so they wouldn’t rust.
  • Tow Bar Hitch installed on rear of coach
  • LP Gas Tank: holds 62# of LP gas
  • ONAN Generator
  • 2 Rooftop Air Conditioners
  • Furnace
  • Aermore Exhaust Horn Model T or A Ford Air horn
  • NEW condition Awning runs (almost) length of coach.

Its 26ft long and has the 455 not sure of final gears interior was updated a few years before I bought it but could use a refresh the motor does not currently run but only because the forward fuel tank is removed and I had plans to have it refreshed the motor and trans and all are still all in one peice and has not been disassembled the electric system is working I have lived in this kinda as an external bedroom for about 2 years.

The fridge and a/c and heat all work . It will need to be picked up from Tyler, Texas or delivered to your location. It has a water leak inside were the outer connector splits inside the wall. I have not used the water since this happened to not damage any of the interior wood. Unsure of mileage.

I could have fixed a lot but however I have literally just not had the time and it has served its purpose but as I am moving this will make a great start for anybody looking to start cheap and move forward.

SOLD! | Two – A 1977 and 1978 GMC Motorhome!
CA | 1977-$10,000 and 1978-$7,000 | 3-31-2021 | both sold 4-12-2021

I have 2-23′ GMC Motorhomes for sale.  One is a 1977 and the other is a 1978.  They are both in need of full renovation. They are both intact but gutted interiors.  The 1977 has a relatively fresh 455 motor with about 10,000 miles on it.  It also has new brakes, new airbag system with isolation valves and new 16.5 tires.  It would need to be delivered to your location, not driven.  The second is a 1977 with a turbo charged 455 motor.  I have started it but the vehicle needs fuel lines and everything else.  The only work that I did to it is to gut the interior and I put new airbag system with isolation valves so that it could be moved or towed.

Price for the 1977 is $10,000 with a $1,200 shipping allowance.
Price for the 1978 is $7,000 with a $1,200 shipping allowance.

Take the shipping allowance off if you are picking them up.  These are both full restoration candidates, please do not call with questions about systems conditions.  Other than what I have posted in the ad, they need everything.

I have title on both units but registrations are expired.

“Love my GMC, but I’m moving overseas with my job and can’t take it with me. Leaving in about 10 days.

New 455 engine – less than 1000 miles, new exhaust system, runs nice and quiet. Work performed by Ken Frey.

Was in the middle of renovating, will provide you all of the things we have. (My focus was on the mechanics, making sure it ran well so we would be safe when traveling.)

  • New stove
  • New refrigerator
  • New sink
  • New microwave
  • New mini blinds
  • New batteries
  • Lots more

Please note – over $14K of work was done on the RV in the last 12 months (e.g., new engine, exhaust, etc). This means, you are either getting the vehicle for free or the work for free. (I could ask for much more given all the amenities, but I also realize you will need to finish the work we didn’t finish. So, priced to be fair and to go quickly.)

Please also note: this RV runs great and can be driven anywhere. If I wasn’t leaving, I wouldn’t be selling it.

We’ve owned this wonderful coach since 2002, and taken it on many adventures. WI | $5,500 | updated5-8-2020 | sold 6-1-2020

Calling all collectors!

If one were looking to renovate an old coach, the smart money would be on this extremely rare find. This GMC is the second oldest in existence and is understood to be the oldest of the TZE’s still running (having been driven a distance of 40 miles recently to it’s present location). This is not to endorse the idea that this vehicle should be driven cross-country. It’s merely a testament to its relatively good condition and rarity. It would be difficult to find an early production model in better shape, nor will you find a better candidate for restoration then this.

Parties interested in purchasing this GMC should be aware that the coach requires a complete restoration (both mechanically and esthetically). One should not expect to drive this vehicle to its new destination. This vehicle will need to be transported by trailer, and is located in Wautoma, Wisconsin, 54982. The engine does start with fresh gas and a battery charge. It enters gears appropriately and drives. However, I am very leery about allowing parties to road test this vehicle having concerns should it breakdown roadside. The frame appears to be solid as evidenced in the photo. It drives quite well for a 46 year old beast.

Please note that I am only interested in selling this vehicle to the most serious of GMC enthusiasts, with the intention and resources to restore it. This is a one-of-a-kind rare find and a piece of American history that needs to be preserved. The GMC Motorhome community organizations are specialized societies with a common interest involving these vehicles. A guild, perhaps even a Brotherhood; expanding as popularity is increasing in these vintage recreational vehicles. Here’s your chance to restore a rare camping hot rod and be the oldest and most unique on the road.

SOLD! | 1977  Royale 26’
OR | $28,000 reduced 6-11-19 | $31,900 listed 5-15-19 | 152,500 miles | SOLD 9/4/19

I have been privileged to be the second owner of this beautiful GMC motorhome. It was purchased in 1993, in Garden Grove, CA, from a widow who told of their wonderful travels, but had little useful vehicle information, other than, “it was always kept under a carport.” However, the husband’s log book indicated he had kept up on maintenance, repairs, and made no important changes to the vehicle.

Starting with 93K miles on the vehicle, my wife and I brought it home to Portland, Oregon. We kept it under a large tarp for the first year while we built its own RV garage. The replacement engine, an Oldsmobile 455, has had plenty of power, so we have not made extensive powertrain upgrades. The vehicle handles and tracks very well, so we have not made extensive alterations to the suspension. The paint’s appearance is great, but I can see that a stylish design would really bring out the vehicle’s beauty.

The interior has been enhanced, however, as our goal was to maintain the GMC’s design ambience, and to show off the homey beauty of the Coachman walnut interior. This coach has more interior storage space than any other GMC I have seen. With the table folded down, the living area is extremely spacious. As this Royale model was the top-of-the-line, party-model, the bedroom is larger than in other GMC models.

After 10 years of hoping my wife’s interests might change and praying for my eyesight to improve, it is now time to free myself of quarterly engine warm-ups and maintenance duties, — and allow another family to enjoy this wonderful vehicle.

SOLD! | 1973 Canyon Lands
CO | $12,000 or best offer | listed 7-26-19 | sold 8-26-19
This is a mechanically sound vehicle that runs and drives great. It has the 455 Oldsmobile Toronado engine, the odometer is at 71,598 miles, the tires have about 80% rubber and it has a 4000W Onan generator.
The following list of items have been done recently.
  • Installed Converter
  • New Kitchen Faucet
  • New Water Lines
  • New Fresh Water Tank
  • New Alternator Belt
  • New Air Compressor for Rear Suspension
  • Repaired Air Tank
  • New Battery
The motorhome needs a new windshield, curtains or blinds on all windows and new carpet or flooring. One cabinet door needs a new hinge and one cabinet door needs a new latch. The refrigerator/freezer is 110 volt so you might want to replace it with a 3-way unit. The stove works fine, but should be upgraded along with the kitchen sink. The bed in the rear is a full size bed, but could easily be changed back to twin beds if preferred.  This unit will take some work to restore, but will definitely be worth the effort. Any reasonable offer will be considered. Thanks for looking!

SOLD! | 1977 Coca-Cola GMC Motorhome – 26′
WA | $8,700 | listed 8-13-19 | sold 8-19-19
Rocket V8 403 cu in (6.6L) original Oldsmobile Toronado engine
VIN: TZE167N101883
This motorhome was customized for Coca-Cola in 1977. It has a lower profile and is lighter than previous versions. This easy to drive motorhome has it’s original Oldsmobile Toronado engine.
Between 1977-1978, GMC released these Coke motorhomes. Unfortunately, one of the previous owners removed ALL of the Coke memorabilia.
The interior is clean and in good condition. The original Coke furniture was replaced by Palm Beach furniture, but the rest of the interior is original except for updated flooring and a new toilet. The exterior is in fair condition and it appears to be the original paint. The engine is original except for a few parts and it does run. All of the motorhome systems are original down to the air bags, but it does have newer tires. The odometer reads, 37,017, but it doesn’t work.
I really love this motorhome and it’s original vintage features, BUT I know it needs a full restoration. That’s why I’m selling it. Because of lack of funds, I am unable to restore this amazing and unique vehicle.

SOLD! | 1976 Eleganza II
BC, Canada | Asking price $10,000 USD | listed 7-26-19 | sold 8-14-19 ($12,000 Canadian)

I bought this coach as a project last spring. I was getting close to finishing the restoration when my wife said: “Find one with twin beds.” As I am sure you know: “Happy wife; happy life “. So I just bought a ’77 Royale with twin beds.

I searched for over a year before buying this Eleganza because I really wanted a rust/rot free project. According to the very nice lady I bought her from she was new in Chico, California, next in Sacramento, California and last in Grass Valley, California.

TONS of quality work completed. Lots to finish as well.

Completed:
Owner #3 had previously spent about $7,000 on the motor ( runs/drives sweet and quiet), roof leaks (Western Country RV, Kelowna), new vent covers, new air bags (supplies/installed Applied GMC), new brakes, repack bearings, 7 new Firestone 16.5” tires, complete engine and transmission service, belts, hoses, etc (three day job for Tom’s Automotive Grass Valley, California), new radio with Serius satellite radio, gps capability and a hard wired back up camera (really neat..when the radio is off the screen retracts, looks original), new grill (supplied by Cinnabar installed by Fenders auto body), new holding tank, water tank, macerator discharge system (supplied by Applied GMC installed by Western Country RV), new water pump and fuse system supplied and installed by Western Country RV), and a used kitchen but new plumbing installed by Western Country RV. They also just certified the electrical, water and gas systems.

The ceiling front and rear caps and the air conditioner face plate have been rebuilt and painted (they look great!), a complete set of upper cabinets are ready to install, I have a complete set of used ceiling panels that are good enough to install but I was just going to use them as patterns.
I had a spectacularly comfortable mattress custom made.

To be finished:

Ceiling, flooring, seating and table. I have a ton of stuff/parts.

I have driven this coach about 7000 miles in the last year. From California to British Columbia to the GMCMI convention in Amana, Iowa (I was the one that had to wear a snowmobile suit to keep warm in my empty motorhome in the snowstorm) to Portland and back to British Columbia. She has never let me down so far.

I have many more photos etc.

WI  | $39,500 | listed 6-6-19 | sold 6-23-19 | SOLD IN TWO WEEKS!

This fully furnished combination is a stylish way for a couple to travel and live aboard for months at a time. In 2014 the coach underwent a complete renovation that replaced the original “sleeps six” configuration with one designed for two. The interior is bright and spacious with contemporary appliances, finishes, and lighting. The exterior has a high quality paint job to accent its classic lines. For stops along the way, the Mini Cooper and tandem provide enjoyable, redundant transportation.

For five years and 35,000 miles the rig has served us splendidly on several coast-to-coast sojourns, a circumnavigation of Lake Superior, and four summers of seasonal camping in Minnesota and Wisconsin. It attracts people, especially at gas stations and RV parks. The coach has 111,000 total miles and was appraised at $45,400 by Applied GMC. It is eligible for permanent Wisconsin Collector license plates (no annual fee) and comes furnished with everything needed to travel except food. The Mini Cooper has 53,000 miles on the odometer, which doesn’t record while being towed. It’s a hardtop with sunroof, heated seats, and 6-speed stick shift. The tandem rides on the coach rear bumper and is a classic beach cruiser with comfy seats, 21-speed shifter, and fat tires.  Full details for everything are available on request.

455 engine with approx. 183,000 miles. Note: Blackstone Laboratories performed an oil analysis in 2015 at 175,000 miles. Their report: “The only mark in the second report for this big block Olds is once again for high viscosity. No worries, though; as you know, that’s what Lucas will do to a fill of oil. Wear is actually in better shape than it was when we first saw this engine back in 2012, and it didn’t take a much shorter oil run to get it. Iron and lead, especially, are now sitting close to just half of what we see on average from this type of engine (as a reminder, universal averages show typical wear for oil run about 2,500 miles[ ) ]. Nothing looks like a problem here at an impressive 175,594 miles!” (Test results available.)

The interior of the coach is essentially as it came from the factory and not in need of replacement. It is ready to get in and go!

SOLD! | 1976 Glenbrook
TX | $32,900 | listed 11-5-18 | sold 11-8-18 (3 DAYS!)

In August 2016 when I located a “barn find” 1976 GMC Glenbrook with 18,000 miles on the speedo in Dumas, TX, I expected that after much work and expense my wife and I would enjoy several years (I will be 80 in February) of traveling in our stunning vehicle. Unfortunately, the GMC is ready to go but my wife is unable to travel in her. So my aim is to find a good home for her (the GMC, not my wife). I can provide invoices showing $42,000 invested in her plus many of my own hours. The unit is in Dickinson, TX. The VIN is TZE166V100327.

NEW: seven tires, fuel pump, water pump, headlamps, clearance lights, radiator hoses, oil cooler lines, steering stabilizer, steering gear, drive belts, exhaust system (with s.s.), front calipers and hoses, rear wheel cylinders and hoses, master cylinder and vacuum booster, six shocks, rubber fuel lines, batteries, parking brake cable, four rear hub seals, fresh water tank and sending unit, fan clutch, and heater hoses.

REBUILT: carburetor, fuel tank, steering pump, fresh water pump, and radiator

EXTERIOR: full paint and added fiberglass bumpers and visor and RAGUSA entry step.

INTERIOR: new laminate floor, new carpet in cockpit, new headliner, new counter top and galley faucet, new mattress, re-upholstered cockpit seats and divan/bunk beds with ultra suede. Re-upholstered dinette seats, dinette wall, and cockpit seat arms in leather-like vinyl. All lights now LED. Two front side windows have Levelor cordless cellular window treatments.

SOLD! | 1978 Royale
AZ | $1,000 | listed 11-8-17 | sold 11-2-18
  • 17,164 mi. Speedometer turned over one time.
  • 403 engine has 3310 Holly carb with vacuum secondaries, Edelbrock intake manifold, chrome valve covers and air cleaner. Runs great.
  • Tranny rebuilt by that guy in Memphis who also put in lower ratio final drive. This upgrade will put you over the hill or mountain ahead of all when caravaning.
  • Radiator needs repair due to wrong pressure cap on last trip, therefore this coach will need to be towed.
  • American Eagle polished aluminum wheels with 24k gold hubs. WSW tires were original BFG raised white letters with white walls buffed in by Discount Tire & Tucker White-Walling of Lakewood Colo., lets not forget that the last few GMCs made had WSW Generals.
  • Super (Buick type) engine air intakes (inlayed fiberglass) my design.
  • Pedestal mirrors on front of coach. Inlayed fiberglass, my design.
  • Rectangular headlights with driving lights in place of parking/directional lights, inlayed fiberglass fender flairs including rear skirt and fiberglass bumper covers front and rear. These three items were from a Florida company. The bumper covers brought the coach into the “90”s. and I inlayed the flairs.
  • Three directional lights on each side of grill, my choice.
  • Spare tire cover, fiberglass from that Florida Co. Contains two spares
  • Two large storage compartments (fiberglass, my design) inlayed into fiberglass cover on rear bumper. Driver’s side has separate locking compartment for dump hose.
  • Interior is standard Coachman rear bath. New original air bags installed three and a half years ago. I bought these from a St. Louis Co. some time ago and kept them in stock.

SOLD! | 1978 Eleganza
NJ | $9,000 OBO | listed 10-25-18 | sold 10-27-18

We are offering up for sale our 1978 Eleganza GMC motorhome.  We purchased the motorhome from the Salvation Army while it was still located at the home of the original owner in June of 2014.

This appears to be a very low millage coach, the owner told us he only took it out a “few times” because his wife did not like it.

I fixed up the motorhome so my family could take it on trips replacing all the parts needed to make the coach a safe and enjoyable place to stay.  Replaced are all the usual suspects that would wear out if a coach was sitting for a long period of time.  Including

  • Front Bearings (With grease zerks)
  • New Brakes (80mm up front)
  • New fuel lines
  • new fuel pump
  • extremely mild carb rebuild (more like a refresh)
  • new carpets
  • replaced head liner
  • installed some entertainment items
  • new tires
  • new air bags
  • Stainless Steal hot water tank

There are many more maintenance items I am not listing, but the bottom line is this a relatively clean ready to roll coach.  Title is clean, insurance and registration are current.  The coach is ready to drive to its new home.

What I would replace if I was keeping it.

  • The old windshield are “fogging” its not terrible but the only way to repair is is to replace them
  • All gauges but the speedo are intermittent.
  • I would reupholster the couches, perhaps turn the rear set into a bed.
  • The lighter color paint cold use a good treatment with a rubbing compound.

We moved and no longer have room for the coach.

SOLD! | 1975 Clasco
CO | $33,000 | listed 7-31-18 | sold 10-26-18

If you are interested in owning one of the great classic GMC’s, shop around first and look at all  the others then look at the one I have to offer.  Mine is a 1975 Palm Beach that was completely redone by Clasco Manufacturing Corporation in the mid 1990’s.  The interior was gutted and redesigned with a dry bath, separate shower, twin beds in the rear, all white cabinetry and white faux leather couch and dining booth seating with matching driver and passenger seats.   The dash is after market with a full complement of instruments.  The ceiling is a beautiful suede.  The house air conditioner was recently replaced as was the two ceiling vent fans.  The six gallon electric hot water heater is relatively new as is the water pump.  The macerator pump was replaced this Spring.  The windows were replaced with the modern new style frameless deep tint.  The kitchen has a three burner propane range and oven, looks like it had never been used, a bar style sink with a high faucet, and a microwave above the refrigerator/freezer.  There is a TV/DVD with a very efficient roof mounted King antenna.  The following Ragusa items are installed, door step, door stop hook, screen door, license plate bumper step, entrance door handle, rear ladder kit with roof rack, rear sliding battery tray and a front double battery tray.  There are struts to hold up both the generator door and the propane tank door.  The exterior body paint was done at the time of the Clasco renovation with their signature pearl paint, the clear coat has some minor defects, the front has a few rock chips, the lower panel was recently painted with Rhino lining to prevent rock chips, the roof was also Rhino lined to reseal and prevent water leaks.

The coach is powered by a 455ci Olds Tornado engine that has approximately 20,000 miles since a complete rebuild.  It has Thorley headers  and 3″ exhaust with either 370 or 410 final drive.  Tires are Michelin’s, 6 with less than 4,000 miles, mounted on Alcoa 16″ rims.  Thru bumper hitch is complete with Roadmaster all terrain tow bar.

Comes complete with original owners manual, work orders, and invoices.  Several spare parts if wanted.  We began our rving in a GMC, traded for a diesel pusher and owned it for several years, then down sized to this GMC, I will say in all honesty, this is the nicest of them all, it rides and handles better than the others.  Reluctantly, at 86+ year young, I am succumbing to my wife’s wishes and hanging it up.  $33,000 is a very fair price for this unique treasure.

SOLD! | 1973 Glacier
VT | $11,200 | listed 5-9-18 | sold 10-8-18

An Indiana GMC Motorhome formerly owned by (Denny Gruse) till 1st quarter of 2017 purchased and driven to Vermont in April of 2017.  Attended three rallies in 2017 with it and attended a family reunion on the western shore of Lake Michigan returning through Canada to Vermont. We put more than 5000 miles on it last year and loved the experience, just trading up to a 1977 Kingsley. Work done on this coach while owned by Denny Gruse is outstanding. We have done our best to continue to maintain it and improve it with everything we have done to it.  Please see below for all the details. Mileage is somewhere in the 130,000 mile range.  I can get the exact mileage.  Interior is pretty close to original.

This document is meant to serve as reference material related to history and current condition of the 1973 GMC motorhome affectionately known as “Shamu”.

HISTORY

  • Unfortunately…very little is known about the history of this unit. I purchased it from a gentleman close to Mooresville, IN in 2013.
  • This man had no history whatsoever on the coach and did not have any contact information for the previous owner(s).
  • I never pursued it any further and did not try CarFax or anything like that.
  • The gentleman I purchased her from had two usable coaches and one parts coach. He decided to place both the good coaches on the market and they would keep the one that didn’t sell first. I spoke with him about a year after the deal and that was, in fact, what he did.

UPGRADES/REPAIRS/DISABLES COMPLETED BY PREVIOUS OWNERS…

  • House water pump replaced.  Pump works fine but is difficult to prime unless fresh water tank is completely full. I have looked for air leaks but have not found any. Pump is located under rear mattress and a pain to get to.
  • New 2 way refrigerator installed at some point. Works on 120V and propane. Performs great on both.
  • Aftermarket stereo system installed at some point. I never messed with it other than to see if it was hooked up. I think there is a switch for it on the right side of the dash?
  • Mechanical fuel pump was abandoned in place and an electric pump that was installed back by the tanks under the coach. It is a lousy installation.
  • Windows had been resealed and no leaks were ever noticed.
  • One bedroom window screen was missing and not replaced.
  • Bunk bed swing brackets were removed and missing. Eyes are still in ceiling.
  • Plastic trim around windows has been replaced with oak wood trim.
  • Coach has been repainted. Not great due to surface prep.
  • Preheat hoses to water heater were bypassed for unknown reason. It is not for a leak in the water heater though.
  • A/C compressor belt was removed. Never checked out for reason why.
  • Cruise control servo to carb rod is missing. Never checked out.
  • Generator was replaced with a different Onan 4KW unit. Basically the same unit as was original but it is not drawer slide mounted.
  • Additional black tank drain valve added for an unknown reason. I have been leaving it open for convenience and have not seen any leaks.

UPGRADES/REPAIR COMPLETED BY ME…

  • Trailer hitch installed. Light duty…2000# pull capacity. 1 7/8 ball. Std 4-wire light plug.
  • Front and Rear bumper blasted and powder coated.
  • Large original propane tank replaced with small grille style tank to provide more storage. Original tank is available if desired.
  • Complete house water system was tested for leaks (one found and corrected), and disinfected.
  • All 4 new rear wheel bearings.
  • All new rear brakes including hardware.
  • All new rear stainless brake hoses.
  • Several sections of brake line replaced with new.
  • New KYB rear gas adjustable shocks installed.
  • 4 new air bags installed.
  • New Viair compressor installed. Pressure switch controlled with on/off switch on air control panel. Air tank blasted, painted, and checked for leaks. Compressor is wired directly to battery and fused. Fuse is located in-line under right hood panel.
  • All new air control system installed including paddle switches, hoses, DOT fittings, pressure relief valve, gauge, panel, and Schrader valves on bags. Air bag system is now manually adjusted as opposed to the automatic system. Simply set both sides to the desired ride height and maintain those pressures. We always traveled at about 85psi on each side.
  •  New master cylinder installed.
  • New front wheel bearings and seals installed. These bearings should be serviced about every 25000 miles. They have only 2000 on them.
  • New front brake calipers and pads installed.
  • New front brake hoses.
  • Front wheel wells vented to reduce engine compartment heat.
  • New upper and lower radiator hoses.
  • New water pump and alternator belts. A/C belt is not on.
  • New Thorley ceramic headers installed along with new “y” pipe and Dodge diesel muffler. Remainder of exhaust is stainless steel.
  • New front KYB gas shocks installed.
  • 2 fuel fill stub hoses replaced. Remainder of stubs appear to be good.

UPGRADES DONE BY CURRENT OWNER…

  • Replaced 4 rear tires…April 2017, currently have 5,000 miles on them.. original steel wheels blasted and powder coated by previous owner.
  • Upgraded “buzz box”/DC converter battery charger with latest technology “smart charger” with capacity for solar if wanted.
  • Upgraded all inside 12v lighting to new LED bulbs.
  • Bunk bed hinge mechanism. Hinges and brackets have been located and purchased.
  • Purchased and installed three new 12v batteries, two of which are deep cycle.
  • New regulator for the water inlet. Replaced the copper from the new regulator to behind the cabinet with pex.
  • Running lights on top of coach front and back, new bulbs, and all new gaskets.
  • Resealed all roof penetrations, vents, AC units with Dicor self leveling lap sealant.
  • New battery cables for front and rear batteries.
  • New exhaust for Onan generator quieter operation.
  • Rewired land power line with new 50amp plug adapter.

SOLD! | 1975 Palm Beach
WI | $4,500 | listed 9-6-2018 | sold 9-20-2018

Motorhome spent much of the past two decades in the back of a warehouse in Milwaukee. Acquired the motorhome four years ago to use as sleeping quarters on our hunting land in northern Wisconsin. Aside from basic cleaning and minor tune up, didn’t need to do much to get it running well enough for the drive from Milwaukee to northern WI. It has sat in the yard there since then. Starts ok, but definitely needs new tires. Not sure what else needs attention mechanically. Since we are using it less than we anticipated, we’d like to find it a better home. Located near Antigo, WI.

SOLD! | 1976 GMC Transmode
AR | $9,500 $17,500 | listed 7-11-18 reduced 8-7-18 sold 8-16-18

This Transmode was originally used as a commercial vehicle and was updated to be used as our game day tailgate and race day travel cruiser.  There is not a kitchen other than a microwave, small sink and refrigerator as all of our cooking was grilling, crock pots and small propane burners.  It is not set up as an overnight camper but if one wanted to convert the rear seating area to a bed it could be easily done and the bench which was used for “overtime” tailgating has been used as a bed. Please, if you are looking for a rig to take to the mountains for a month keep shopping unless you want to continue with making it a full time camping RV.  If you are looking for a weekend event rig, keep reading..

I purchased this Transmode in 2016 from the owner in Prior Lake, Minnesota who had possession of it for about 10+ years.  He purchased this classic from his employer who had an excellent record of maintenance, keeping various receipts and details back to 1983.  The Prior Lake owner relayed to me that this originally was used as a mobile display/event cruiser for Interstate Batteries; whatever it’s previous life, I’m certain the walls have stories.

I brought it to Joplin, Missouri for paint, engine work-over and a complete remodel of the interior.  This process took about 18 months and was finished just in time for my son’s senior college football season in September, 2017.  We road tripped from Missouri to Michigan and continued to perform upgrades as the travel demanded.  We have touched, worked on, and performed maintenance on much of this rig.  I used two shops for mechanical work, one in Joplin and the other, Cinnabar Engineering, in Sandusky, Michigan – they know their product and care about high quality.  I wrote a lot of checks over the previous 30 months of ownership and here is a summary of what we have done starting with a complete tear out of the interior:

  • New Exterior paint
  • New Interior  (Entire rig was stripped to the frame.  Dash is original. Captain’s seats are not original but in good shape.)
  • Rebuilt cabinetry.  Added regular fridge and microwave.
  • Re-upholstered benches (3)
  • Added new lounge chairs (2)
  • Replaced cab carpeting and rear deck carpeting
  • Installed new engineered laminate wood flooring
  • Installed new toilet
  • Installed new Dometic 15000 BTU Duo Therm Brisk 2
  • Installed new LED lighting through cabin
  • Refinished headliner (don’t ever take these out if you want to maintain your sanity)
  • Six (6) new Firestone tires and new hub caps – 6 wheel alignment
  • Reworked rear brakes
  • Replaced wheel bearings on D2, D3, P2, P3
  • Installed new front shocks
  • Replaced/reworked exhaust system – before muffler and back to tailpipe
  • Re-configured oil dipstick to original position
  • Replacement engine has approximately 7K miles on it, installed by owner in Prior Lake MN.
  • Replaced fan clutch
  • Replaced starter
  • Replaced batteries
  • Air bags are adjusted manually with plain old Schrader valve, hardware for electro-ride is available.  I found that for my purposes this worked best for my needs.

With all that work, this does need a generator and the front dash air is also not in service. I did not try to work on this as Autumn in Michigan did not call from A/C. I’m out of time on repairs but this rig is miles ahead of where it was when I purchased and it is ready for a new adventure. It rides great, runs great, burns no oil and has no fluid leaks. Perhaps it is your next great adventure?! This rig is garaged in Northwest Arkansas.

SOLD! 1975 Glenbrook – 26 foot
MT | $17,400 $27,900 | listed 3-27-2018 – lowered on 7-17-18 – sold 8-10-18

This beautiful golden, yellow coach was my Dad’s. He purchased it in June 2012, and in April 2014 had Billings RV install a brand new Olds 455 LB engine and transmission. $13,795 worth of work and mechanical upgrades were done at that time: new motor, transmission, batteries, belts, exhaust manifold, filters…. There are only 542 easy miles on this new motor, and 54,803 actual miles on the chassis. I lost my Dad in June 2015. This coach has been thoughtfully kept, stored and maintained with the change of seasons. I have taken it out on a few short trips to the mountains – parked her beside Beartooth Lake, fished, and listened to the wind in the tall pines of Montana. She runs great and is a fine, solid coach. I believe the paint is original and looks nice, tires have moderate wear and have good miles left on them, Alcoa wheels, airbag system inspected and updated when the new motor was installed, Onan generator (6000 watts, 115 volts), roof top air conditioner, ceiling fans, storage pod and ladder, entry step, updated upholstery on couch and leather-like upholstery on captains seats, newer carpet and headliner, dash curtain and day/night pleated shades in good operating condition, complete bath (sink, shower and commode), very comfortable newer mattress, and owners manual. Clean and lovingly kept. This beautiful coach is ready to go, ready for the next adventure, ready to travel to clear mountain lakes, fragrant alpine forests, and warm sandy beaches. This classic motor home lives in Montana and I just can’t get away enough to use her.

SOLD! | 1976 Eleganza II
AB  | $9,800 | listed 6-16-18 | sold 8-1-18

I have so little spare time to finish this unit, so I am putting it up for sale. There is still some updating that needs to be done on the interior and exterior but it ran well through the Rocky Mountains when I drove it about 500 miles back to my home in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

There have been a number of upgrades that have already been done:

  1. Upgraded driver and passenger seats
  2. Upgraded passenger sofas
  3. New stainless steel water heater and heating element
  4. New foot flush toilet
  5. New pex plumbing
  6. Updated exterior mirrors
  7. New Viair compressor, pressure valve and stainless steel pressure tank
  8. New Sulley air bag system and new lines
  9. New updated dash air valve system
  10. Fuel tanks have been redone.

I had a thorough mechanical inspection done on this unit here in Alberta. I replaced the ignition coil and am just having the mufflers replaced and the wheel bearings re-packed. Got a good start but there are some minor mechanical issues left to be addressed in the near future. I have the list if you are interested. Most mechanics and handymen know little about these GMC Motorhomes up in these parts of the world and I know only enough to get myself in trouble trying to fix it. But, if you’re a good hand at smaller mechanical work and general interior upgrading, this might be the vehicle for you. Everything works, genset, both roof A/C, dash AC, 3-way fridge, water pump, gas range, and oven. The furnace is still something that I haven’t been able get fired.

According to the most recent owner in B.C. the motorhome was originally purchased in Texas and has had a few owners finally ending up with me. I have a briefcase full of literature with operating and repair info but not much ownership history on this unit. It has good bones and there is no rust on the frame members. The motor and transmission are still strong.

I am asking $9800.00 CDN, knowing that there is still some work that should be done to bring this good machine up to a full quality motorhome.

Unfortunately, I have too many projects on the go and I do not have time to finish “Fillmore” so I am putting him up for sale. There is still some updating that needs to be done on the interior and exterior but he does run well. I drove him about a 1,000 miles to the location he is at now.

There have been a number of upgrades that have already been done since I got him home.

  1. Upgraded driver and passenger seats
  2. Upgraded passenger sofas
  3. New stainless steel water heater and heating element
  4. New foot flush toilet
  5. New pex plumbing
  6. Updated exterior mirrors
  7. New Viair compressor, pressure valve and stainless steel pressure tank
  8. New Sulley air bag system and new lines
  9. New updated dash air valve system
  10. Fuel tanks have been redone.

Everything works, genset, both roof A/C, dash AC, 3-way fridge, water pump, gas range, and oven. I only problem I still have to deal with is the furnace that I haven’t been able get fired. The motorhome was originally purchased in Texas and has had a few owners finally ending up with me. It has good bones and there is no rust on the frame members.

I am asking $7,800 knowing that there is still some work that should be done to bring it up to a quality motorhome.

SOLD! | 1976 Eleganza II
AZ | $29,500 | listed 10-24-2017 | sold 12-13-17

Please note: this coach was an Eleganza II (TZE166V103202) when we got it but it is now something a little different. Instead of maximizing the number of sleeping spaces we have opted to make it perfect for a couple. It now has twin beds in the front living space and a customized dinette in the back, taking advantage of the largest window in the coach. It is very comfortable for sleeping and the dinette is amazing – comfort with a view.

172,000 miles on odometer, but only 56,000 original miles on a transplanted 455 engine. The transmission was rebuilt about 40,000 miles ago. Final drive is 3.55. Paint is three years old, windshields are new, Eagle wheels with three-year-old BF Goodrich Commercial T/A’s. Tow car may be purchased in a separate deal.

SOLD! | 1978 GMC Motorhome
RI | $34,995 | lowered 7-7-17 | $45,999 | listed 11-22-16 | sold 8/8/2017

Thanks for your interest in our 1978 GMC Motorhome and if you have any questions please contact me and I will try to help you as much as I can with the history and specifics regarding this 78 GMC Motorhome. The owner of our company, Mario Coletta, who passed away in July of this year purchased this motorhome between 1983 and 1985, he purchased it from Bob Tasca Sr. who formed Tasca Ford here in Rhode Island. Mario purchased the motorhome with somewhere around 6000 miles on it at the time and it now has 35,000 miles.

Both the exterior and interior of the motorhome has been completely revamped with the interior being taken down right to the studs and remodeled with a modern look and the exterior has had a complete refinishing with the same colors and a similar look as when original.

The engine of the motorhome was fully rebuilt in 2011 by Iden Corp GMC out of Woodbridge, VA, along with adding fuel injection, new exhaust and the installation of a disc brake system on the center axles changing them from drums. Also, the suspension air bag system was replaced. We still have the “repair bible” from Iden Corp GMC which explains all the work performed which can be sent to you in a PDF format.

The sale of this motorhome will also include all the books, manuals and “repair bible” that are in the photos. All systems in the motorhome are in working order, motorhome has always been garaged and kept clean inside and out. Please let me know what else you may need from us regarding this 1978 GMC Motorhome and thanks for your interest.

Our family will be moving out of state soon and are unable to take our GMC. Hoping someone can make good use of this camper, as it is in great condition and ready to roll. I purchased it locally in May of 2015 and set about getting all maintenance completed and documented. A list of the major things done in the past two years:

  • Added 7 Alcoa rims and new Cooper Discovery tires.  Tires have approximately 500 miles on them.
  • Upgraded front brakes to 80mm and rebuilt the four rear brakes.
  • Replaced radiator with the Griffin radiator from Jim Buchanan, installed new water pump and fan clutch at the same time.
  • Replaced 3.07 Final Drive with a 3.42.
  • Swapped out original Buzz Box with a PD9270
  • Upgraded to electric wipers with Ken’s kit
  • Installed a wireless backup camera
  • Rebuilt black tank dump valve with Valterra components
  • Had Onan carb rebuilt by Luis Salas at Walboro
  • New fluids, filters, etc
  • New mufflers installed last summer
  • New, leak-free kitchen faucet

Motorhome is in very good condition. Mostly original interior, with the exception of Flexsteel driver and passenger seats, and a permanent bed in back, replacing the rear fold-down seats. Cabin air conditioning works great, dash air conditioning does not. Prior to my ownership, the driver side windshield had been replaced. Passenger side is original and only showing minimal fogging. Zip-Dee awning in very good condition. One of the gas burners has been replaced with an electric coil, so you can cook off camp power if desired. On the monitor panel, the water level and black tank level gauges do not work. Everything else on the interior is in tip-top shape.

Mechanically good.  Has the Olds 455. The transmission has a small, persistent drip around the pan gasket. I installed a transmission drain plug when I first dropped the pan to replace the filter, so much easier and cleaner to change fluid. There is also a small exhaust leak at the front of the passenger manifold.  The manifold is not cracked, just not properly sealing. New exhaust gaskets included.

Motorhome has 78,000 miles on the clock, Onan around 227 hours. Sale includes a very nice, snug cover, lots of extra parts (fuel pump, water pump, etc), full set of manuals, and my maintenance log with all work performed, part numbers used, etc.

This GMC comes with a good Iowa title. It is currently a bonded title, which does not affect the transfer of ownership. The gentleman I purchased it from had owned it for nine years and could not find the title. I went through the relatively painless process with the Iowa DOT to acquire a bonded title.  The bonded designation stays with the title for a total of three years, so one year remaining. A bond has been placed with the State of Iowa.  In the extremely unlikely event someone can prove valid ownership of this vehicle, they would receive the bond, not the motorhome. In 2018, the “bonded” drops off the title and a new title is issued.
